New Brow Collection from Benefit Cosmetics

IMG_0154

I remember a time when 'doing your brows' was a menial task that took all of 30 seconds. It may have involved a quick comb through with a spoolie and a few sketches with a brow pencil, if you were lucky! Now however, there are brow bars and products galore dedicated to those two, expression-giving features on our face. It is fair to say that Benefit Cosmetics have been at the forefront of brow grooming since 1976, when founders Jean and Jane Ford opened the first boutique in San Francisco and three years ago the brand embarked on a bold brow mission. Their mission was to create a collection that magically solved each and every brow dilemma that us gals face...whether that be skimpy brows, patchy brows, unruly brows or barely there brows. This new collection of brow-loving products would contain high-performing formulas, custom-designed applicators and mistake-proof shades to ensure our brows were groomed to perfection.

Fast forward three years and Benefit Cosmetics, the eyebrow experts, are proud to launch their extensive 13 product brow range, which offers us everything we could possibly need in our makeup arsenal from pencils, gels, primers and tweezers. It really is like a magician's box of tricks...for the brows! So let's take a look at each new or rebranded product to help guide you through these hefty new collection!

Gimme Brow (£18.50) - This award-wining fibre gel is now available in three shades and has a custom, tiny tapered brush which adds volume to your brows whilst taming and tinting at the same time. The brush-on gel contains tiny microfibres that adhere to the skin and hairs creating a fullness and definition that remains natural-looking.

The cream gel is waterproof and long-lasting so shouldn't budge throughout the day.

The highlighting gel transforms dull and flat brows by giving them a subtle highlight and contrast. Lighter brows can appear naturally darker, and heavy, dark brows can be softly lightened. The custom brush has a comb tip to fit the narrowest part of the brow and the spiral bristles provide mess-proof application.

Grooming Tweezers & Brush (£15.50) - These tweezers have diamond-dust coated tips for superior grip when tweezering those stubborn little hairs and the custom bristle brush expertly grooms brows back into place.

Browvo! Conditioning Primer (£21.50) - A nutrient-rich primer for fuller-looking brows. This conditioning primer works in two ways; firstly by conditioning brows to appear fuller, thicker and healthier (can also be worn overnight so it works its magic as you sleep!) and secondly as a primer to wear under brow makeup to enhance colour and extend wear. The nutrient-rich formula contains keratin and soy proteins and is a clear gel to suit all brows. The soft-touch applicator evenly coats brow hair and skin, simply click once and glide over your brows.

Ready, Set, Brow! (£24.50) - This is an invisible shaping and setting gel that holds unruly brow hairs in place and locks on your brow makeup so they don't budge during the day. It has 24 hour staying power and has a flexible, flake-free formula that dries pretty much instantly. The custom-moulded wand has short bristles to sculpt and shape hairs into place and a precision tip to define the tail end of your brows.

Angled Brow Brush & Spoolie (£15.50) - A dual-ended brush for expert brow definition. The hard-angle brush creates precise definition whilst the custom spoolie shapes and blends your brow makeup seamlessly.

This new collection is pretty impressive - mainly because of the great shade range it offers with each product. Benefit also have conjured up a handy table to help you choose the right product number to match your brows. I also love the sleek yet fun silver packaging with a magical theme attached to range.

This new brow collection will be available online and on counters from this Friday 24th June 2016!

The clocks have gone forward, the nights are getting lighter and we even got our first glimpse of the sunshine this week which means that Spring and Summer are slowly on their way. This means it is time to turn our thoughts to peeling back the layers and baring our limbs. I, for one, will definitely need to turn up the tan a little before I start flashing my pins which is why Benefit's latest launch - a selection of Hoola bronzing products, could not have come at a better time.

The award-winning Hoola bronzing powder, Benefit's tan-in-a-box, has been a cult favourite for over 15 years and has now inspired three new, TANtalising products for face and body.

To complement the ever-popular Hoola bronzer, Benefit have released a new Bronzing and Contouring Brush* (£17.50) which is possibly one of the snazziest makeup brushes I have ever seen. This brush is super soft and is perfect for seamless bronzing or creating contours and cheekbones.

Hoola Zero Tanlines* (£19.50) is an all-over body bronzer which gives you a believable bronzed effect instantly. The gel formula is transfer and streak-free and is buildable with a gorgeous beachy, holiday scent. The best thing about this product is the hands-free custom sponge that comes with it - meaning you can bronze effortlessly without having to worry about dodgy orange hands! It helps gives your skin a matte, gorgeous glow in double quick time!

Finally the wonderfully named Dew the Hoola* (£22.50) is a new, soft matte liquid bronzer for the face giving you an all year round glow without the gleam. If you like your highlighter and bronzer looking fairly natural, without any glitter or shimmer, then this lightweight formula will be perfect for you. It blends in seamlessly over your makeup or worn alone to instantly perk up your skin and give you that just-back-from-the-beach healthy glow.

Will you be boosting your bronze with these new products this Summer?

Benefit Air Patrol BB Cream Eyelid Primer

Defend eyelids from unfriendly skies with Benefit's Air Patrol* (£21.50) | available online and on Benefit Cosmetics counters nationwide

With its novelty packaging and catchy name, the new Air Patrol eyelid primer from Benefit Cosmetics certainly catches your eye and begs the question, "What exactly does it do?". Well, what doesn't it do more to the point! This twist up BB cream is specifically designed for the eye area and has a multitude of benefits
- it protects the delicate eye area from pollutants, sun and smoke with its SPF20 formula and shea extract
- it calms and soothes irritated eyes
- it relieves dryness and hydrates
- it preps and primes the eyelid and locks on eyeshadow
- it colour corrects to create a flawless, even base

The cushion calm applicator tip was inspired by gel foam mattresses and pillows and is softer than your pinkie when applying the cream. The smart twist up bottom just requires one click per eye and delivers the perfect amount whether you wish to prep, prime, relieve dryness or cancel out any redness for a bare but beautiful eye look.

The consistency is quite loose but creamy and is very cooling on contact with the skin. You can either use your finger to dab and apply the BB cream or gently massage it in straight from the cushion calm applicator itself. With so many purposes from just one little product, it is a little confusing to know exactly how to view the new Air Patrol BB cream and whether you really need it? Well I think it is best to see it as a regular eye primer with added skincare benefits. I love that it primes your eyelids for when you are planning on wearing eyeshadow but is also tinted in colour so evens out redness for a fresh, clean eyelid look for those non-eyeshadow days. When I used this as a primer it really worked well at prepping the eye, locking on the powder or pigment and definitely enhanced the colour and made it last longer without any creasing or drying. If you are after a new eye primer and like products similar to MAC's Soft Ochre Paint Pot that primes and colour-corrects then this could be a great new product or you, but if you are after something purely to soothe irritated or dry eyes then I don't think this is the best option on the market.

Have you tried Air Patrol yet? I would love to hear your thoughts.

Let's face it, a slick and a flick of coloured eye liner (see my latest favourites here and here) just wouldn't be complete without lashings of mascara. Whereas your average black option would be a safe call, why not mix your eye-look up and combine that purple liner with a coating of brown mascara or wow your friends with dazzling colbalt blue lashes to frame a emerald green flick? I love the whole coloured liner and mascara trend going on at the moment and Benefit Cosmetics have just given us reason to reinvent that 70s feel which two new additions to their best-selling mascara.

The ever-popular They're Real! mascara from Benefit (£19.50) has been given a colourful makeover and now there are two new shades to delight your eyes - They're Real! in 'Beyond Blue' and 'Beyond Brown'. If you were a fan of the original mascara from Benefit but fancy injecting a little colour into your makeup then these would be a fab choice. If you haven't tried this mascara before then you are in for a treat. I really liked the original version and found that it lived up to all its promises; it lengthened, curled, added volume, lifted and seperated my lashes without any smudging or drying out. And if you are a little fearful of going all-blue then you could subtly coat the ends of your lashes after you've applied your regular mascara or just opt for the bottom lashings for fun finish!

What do you think? Do you dare to go bright and blue?

Benefit They're Real! Push-Up Liners in Colour!

Remember last Summer when Benefit Cosmetics released their innovative and brand new They're Real! Push-Up Liner? If not you can read all the details here and see just how blonde my hair was too! It was a fresh product to the market and a unique concept that really made the tricky task of perfecting that perfect eyeliner flick a little bit easier with the lash-hugging gel liner applicator and twist-up pen design! With a few twists the slanted rubber nib dispenses the matte, gel, waterproof formula which glides onto your skin without any tugging or pulling. The novel concept wasn't everyone's cup of tea - I don't think you get the same intensity as you would with a liquid liner or the precision you would with a gel pot and brush but I quite liked the simplicity of it all and the fact it didn't budge or smudge one bit was a real winner!

Following the obvious success of this launch last year, Benefit Cosmetics has now jumped on the crazy, coloured liner tread going on at the minute and have added four fabulous new shades to the range to rank alongside the popular black option. They're Real! Push-Up Liners* (£18.50) are now available in blue, green, purple and brown - a colour to suit everyone and really make your eyes pop! There is brown and green for a more subtle variation to black and purple and blue for the adventurous gals out there! That said, all these colours are fairly muted and tame in comparision to some of the cobalt blue and vibrant green liners that are doing the rounds at the moment. These four, jewel-toned options would definitely suit someone looking to move away from the traditional jet-black liner but aren't quite ready to crack out the bright liners just yet. Little steps first!

Beyond Blue is definitely more of a navy blue than an electric blue so is a safer option if you fancy giving the blue-hue eye trend a go. Beyond Purple is a beautiful, rich aubergine shade and warms up your everyday eye look perfectly. Beyond Brown is probably my favourite when after a subtle alternative to my everyday black liner. Finally Beyond Green is a true mossy-green which would look amazing against hazel or brown eyes. Which colour would you pick up?
