A Pop of Pastel

GAP Shirt | Jamie Jeans TOPSHOP | Oasis Chunky Sandals
Mulberry Bayswater Clutch | Accessorize Collar Necklace

Sometimes the simplest outfits are truly the best and recently I have been loving a classic, crisp white shirt paired with skinny jeans for an effortless, lazy weekend look. I always find GAP a brilliant choice for when you need to stock up on your basic items - all your vest top, camisole and cardigan needs are sorted here and it was my first port of call when an oversized, boyfriend shirt was top of my shopping list.

The best thing about having a blank canvas such as a simple shirt and jeans combo is the option to add a contrasting pop of colour to your outfit with your accessories which gave me the perfect excuse to take my beautiful new bag out for its first excursion. I love the fresh, lemon shade against the clean white denim and it certainly adds a little bit of sunshine to an outfit even on a cloudy day!

What looks are you currently loving for Spring Summer?

Mulberry Bayswater Clutch Wallet in Camomile

Whether it be shoes, bags or makeup encased in that alluring gold packaging, everyone has their weaknesses! Unfortunately for me I think it might be all three but possibly at the top of that list would be those lovely, come-hither-and-stroke-me handbags, and it always seems to be Mulberry that tempts me the most. I love the brand and always find myself, somewhat dangerously, avidly admiring their new collections and lusting after pretty much everything from the website.

Last week my Mum and I headed to London for a belated birthday trip out together as she had treated me to tickets to see the ballet, La Fille Mal Gardée, at the Royal Opera House. Finding ourselves just off New Bond Street as we walked down towards Covent Garden I couldn't help to pop into the flagship Mulberry store...just to have a look! Famous last words eh?! I was initially looking for a new purse but when I saw the Mulberry Bayswater Clutch Wallet in Camomile it seemed perfect, ticking all the right boxes - small and compact enough to use as a wallet but equally suited as a clutch bag with its delicate chain strap and zip and slot compartments. And as for the colour it was a tough decision between the camomile and the stunning hibiscus shade but the sweet, sunshine-yellow won! I don't think you could get a more perfect shade for Spring Summer time and I knew it would feel right at home nestled amongst my soft, pastel wardrobe. Oooh, isn't she pretty!

My New Mulberry

When it comes to big purchases I am not usually one to act on impulse. I like to think I am very considered and sensible and will contemplate a big splurge for weeks, months on end - seeking some sort of inner justification before handing over my credit card. However last Sunday, whilst idling shopping with Rob for some basics, I was drawn towards the Mulberry store (as we all are!) and left with this beautiful new bag - the small bayswater double zip tote. To my defence (and hear me out here...), I desperately needed a bag I could sling over my shoulder and just go rather than cradling it in the crook of my arm which is never that practical. I also had come to the realisation that I didn't actually own a simple, black bag - something classic, smart and timeless that I could use for work, travelling and evening events.

When I saw the small bayswater sitting neatly in the store there was no question that it ticked all the boxes and I loved its elegant structure and the rose gold hardware. It is so practical and just the right size to house all the essentials, my phone, purse, filofax, a dozen or so lipsticks, but doesn't feel too bulky or cumbersome. The zipped compartments are great for keeping everything safe and secure and I love the fact you have to option of using the shoulder strap when mooching around town all day or tucking it away and simply keeping it smart and simple as a tote for the night time. I always worry that an impulse purchase will lead to a wave of doubt and reconsideration the next day but I can safely say that there are no regrets here and it has settled in well next to my Willow Tote!

Knee-highs and skinny jeans

IMG_9437
Today Rob and I popped to Westfield Stratford to have a little mooch and for me to start my Winter wardrobe shopping. As the mornings have started to feel an awful lot chillier recently it has come to my attention that I am seriously lacking in warm layers, chunky jumpers and puddle-proof footwear. After a little wander around H&M and Topshop came up trumps with their AW collections and I bought a few new pieces which I am excited to wear as we welcome in the Winter season, including a wonderfully fluffy gilet and some snug woolly jumpers. Whilst taking a minute to admire the beautiful space that is the Mulberry store at Westfield I thought I would get Rob to take a snap of my outfit today as I was feeling very happy (and a little pirate-like) in my new H&M over-the-knee boots and jazzy jacket, also from H&M. My jeans are the fabulous Jamie jeans from Topshop (I think I have these in every colour!) and my bag is my gorgeous wedding present from Rob, the Mulberry Willow tote, which I simply adore.

I hope you have all had lovely weekends. Have you bought anything recently for your Winter wardrobe?

My next post in my wedding series focuses on all those little gifts we gave and very gratefully received during our wedding day, from the favours for the guests to the bridesmaids gifts, as well as the stationery we used to help style our day. For my lovely bridesmaids I wanted to treat them to a few little treats during the wedding morning so firstly presented them with these floral B by Ted Baker kimonos to match my own chemise. I knew it would be nice for them to wear them in the morning as we all excitedly got ready and would make for some super lovely photos right before we got changed into our wedding outfits. I also bought them each a cream dressing table mirror from Laura Ashley to use on the morning but then take home with them as a little reminder of our day. Finally I presented them with their own Jo Malone Orange Blossom cologne to compliment my own bespoke scent and again to give them something personal to always provoke a happy memory of our day together. They are all such amazing friends and beautiful bridesmaids, I really wanted to give them something special to cherish always.

Just before I began to get ready into my wedding dress a special delivery arrived from Rob for me to open which I did with utmost excitement. He sent over such a lovely card that I will read and re-read for a long time to come and then I had much fun and wonderment unveiling my wedding gift, my dream bag, the Mulberry Willow Tote in Ballet Pink. It is beautiful and was such an expected, thoughtful gift from my husband-to-be. Ironically I had also bought him a Mulberry bag, the Oak Clipper Holdall, which was being delivered by one of our ushers at the same time. Great minds, eh?!

For all our wedding stationery and bespoke jam jar labels I used the wonderful Wedding in a Teacup who were amazing at helping me create my individual invitations and order of services, giving me the freedom to reword the templates and play about with the layout to ensure they were delivered just how I wanted them. They have so many lovely designs and little ideas for favours, gifts and handmade items for your wedding, I would definitely recommend them to help add some rustic charm to your day. We of course went for the Love is Sweet stationery - the cupcakes and pastel hues went perfectly with our theme. For our favours we made homemade strawberry & rose jam for the girls and spicy plum chutney for the boys and spooned them into jam jars with our bespoke Spread the Love labels placed on the front from Wedding in a Teacup also. We made the tops for the jams and chutney from the leftover bunting fabric and tied them in place with some fine ribbon.

We loved the idea of having some personalised apple crates and boxes dotted around our venue to  house various things like some warm blankets for the evening and the wedding cards and gifts from our lovely friends and family. We ordered a whole host of different crates and boxes from Plant a Box online which is a great site. You can choose the size, colour and text of each box so was perfect for personalising the items for our wedding day but equally they would make a lovely gift for someone and will remain a keepsake for us for many years to come.
