Liz Earle Superskin Moisturiser with Natural Neroli

IMG_5355

"We can't turn the clock back, but the Superskin range definitely helps 'slow the ticking'." - Liz Earle. Meet Liz Earle's new super cream, supercharged with nature's potent botanicals and enhanced with natural neroli to visibly plump and smooth mature or very dry skin. Liz Earle's new Superskin Moisturiser* (£39) is a rich and luxurious cream which is delicately scented with neroli to give you and your skin a blissful experience and a radiant, replenished complexion when used day and night. If you aren't a fan of overly-fraganced skincare then I would maybe give this one a miss but if you love a moisturiser with a slightly herbal, decadent scent then this new cream will definitely float your boat. Personally I love the smell of this moisturiser which has a similar, earthy aroma as many of Liz Earle's other lotions and potions and is a lovely addition to my current skincare routine.

This moisturiser boasts the hero formula from Liz Earle's ever popular, original Superksin moisturiser but brings a new layer of affordable luxury to your daily regime with the addition of collagen-protecting pomegranate flower extract plus a gorgeous blend of essential oils from neroli, lavandin and chamomile. It is quite thick and rich so feels like a real treat on your skin yet sinks in fairly quickly without leaving your face feeling greasy or sticky. It is light yet potent enough to be used in the morning and the evening time and contains a high level of omega-3 from the cranberry seed, borage and rosehip oils which help prevent moisture loss and improves skin elasticity.

I have really enjoyed using this moisturiser over the past couple of weeks and have found that my skin has felt smooth and nourished, especially when using it overnight and waking up with a radiant, healthy-looking complexion. I find the scent very calming and soothing so love to incorporate this during one of my weekly pamper nights, smoothing it onto my face and décolletage whilst I paint my nails, light some candles and indulge in some late night blog reading! Do you like the sound of this new super cream? Which Liz Earle skincare products feature in your skincare regime?

Liz Earle Colour collection - "Make up Made Easy"
Signature Eye Colour - £13.50. Blend & Contour eye brush - £12.50

First came the sheer skin tint, next came the eye pencils and mascara and now the Liz Earle Colour makeup collection is complete with the addition of a brush set, lipsticks, finishing powder and bronzer. The new range of makeup from Liz Earle is all about makeup made easy, to suit all ages and skin types, whilst working in harmony with Liz Earle's prolific Naturally Active Skincare.

The new Signature Eye Colour comes in 20 wearable shades and is a gorgeous, lightweight formula that is silky to apply and is extremely long wearing. Shade 14, Chestnut is a rich shimmering dark brown which makes a lovely, smokey all-over-eye colour or perfect for contouring the crease when used with a copper or golden shadow, for example. The Blend & Contour brush is created from 100% man-made fibres and is soft and supple to the touch. I love the clear, acrylic handles of all the Colour collection brushes giving them a really stylish, sophisticated touch...Liz Earle through and through! This particular brush is brilliant for precise application and is amazing at blending the crease colour through the socket. The domed top gives the shadow a really natural, soft finish and is lovely and gentle on the skin.

The Liz Earle Colour collection is available online. Are there any pieces that take your fancy?

Liz Earle natural finish loose powder & brush

The Liz Earle makeup collection is undeniably smart and desirable with its simple, elegant packaging and their refined range offering everyday essentials to enhance, rather than mask your skin. I featured a few of their new eye products here and thought I would now share with you two of my stand-out products that work in perfect harmony together.

Liz Earle Natural Finish Loose Powder* £19.50
This lightweight formula contains four types of powder and different sized particles to help smooth and even out the appearance of your skin, giving you a natural finish. It is enriched with a blend of vitamin E and avocado oils and come in three different shades to suit all skin tones. I have been using 01 Natural Ivory, and despite having a medium skin tone, it suits me really well. This powder doesn't deposit a lot of colour onto your skin (which I think is a good thing) but simply evens out your complexion, diminishes fine lines and eliminates any shiny areas. The powder is so beautifully blended and velvety-soft, it is impossible for it to ever feel cakey or heavy on the skin, even with a few touch-ups during the day, especially when applied with the Liz Earle powder brush...

Liz Earle Powder Brush* £20
Currently there are only three different brushes in the Liz Earle makeup range but I have a suspicion they will soon be expanding their accessories collection. The cut and shape of the brushes have been uniquely designed by their makeup artists to help you achieve truly professional results. The man-made fibres are completely animal friendly and are cut individually to ensure you pick up and apply just the right about if product. The powder brush is so stylish sporting a two-toned, rounded head and clear acrylic handle and has a feather-like feel. The brush is ridiculously soft and is perfect to use with powders or bronzers. It works brilliantly with loose face powders as it lightly dusts the product all over, rather than deposits it in one place.

This fine duo has been a staple part of my makeup routine for the past couple of weeks now, forcing me to cast my MAC mineralised skinfinish natural and favourite kabuki cruelly aside. For the time being anyway!

Have you tried anything from the new Liz Earle makeup collection?

Liz Earle Colour makeup collection

liz earle makeup

Liz Earle has certainly proved that they know their skincare, offering us the cult product Cleanse and Polish as well as a lovely range of specialised skin products for face, body and beyond. Last year we welcomed their new haircare range and this year they have further heightened their dominance in the beauty industry with the arrival of their new makeup range - Liz Earle Colour. This new makeup range offers a collection of essential products in a series of flattering and wearable tones that are aimed to suit all ages and stages of skin. The ethos of Liz Earle Colour is to enhance rather than mask the skin with natural-looking beauty being the main priority.

liz earle lash care mascara base

Liz Earle Intensifying Mascara Base* - £10.50

This is a really creamy mascara base that dries transparent and helps give your lashes added length and volume. The formula is smooth and lightweight and enriched with vitamin E and natural oils which condition and strengthen your lashes. Because of this it can also be applied at night and worn alone as an overnight treatment too. I applied this before using the Liz Earle Smudgeproof Mascara and was really impressed with the results. I definitely noticed that my lashes appeared more full and fluttery, and was particularly handy when dealing with those troublesome, stubby bottom lashes. This mascara base can also be combed through your eyebrows to give them a little definition and help keep them in place.

Liz Earle Lash Definition Smudgeproof Mascara* - £14.50

Available in black or brown, Liz Earle's mascara (enriched with Vitamin E) is described as water-resistant, flake-free and long lasting. It glides on effortlessly, perfectly defining each lash. The specially designed brush helps grab every lash, even those bothersome short ones, lengthening and separating with every sweep of mascara. I really liked this mascara, especially when I used it with the Liz Earle Intensifying Mascara Base. The brush combed through and separated my lashes and it wasn't clumpy or flakey at all. The only thing I would say is that the volume it gives you isn't great and you do have to work it through your lashes a few times to build up the length and colour for maximum impact.

liz earle eye pencil

Liz Earle Eye Pencil* - £11

As someone who loves wearing golden/bronzed tones on their eyes, this product definitely excited me the most. The Liz Earle Eye Pencils come in 01.Black, 02.Dark Brown and 03.Golden Bronze and are extremely pigmented and long lasting. The consistency is quite creamy meaning that you can either line your eye or apply it to your eyelid and softly blend it out as a shadow. Once again the formula of these eye pencils is enriched with Vitamin E (I get the feeling the folks at Liz Earle are quite fond of Vitamin E) and is non-irritating, so ideal for sensitive eyes.

What are your thoughts on the Liz Earle Colour collection? If you love their skincare, will you be checking out their new makeup range?

liz earle pampering hand treat

With only 12 days until Christmas day, you are either feeling particularly smug with yourself as you are surrounded by neatly wrapped Christmas presents, or you are filled with mild panic as your shopping list grows and the shops become more frenzied.

I wanted to share with you this really sweet Pampering Hand Treat gift set from Liz Earle which could be the perfect last minute purchase for that tricky aunt or beauty-obsessed sister. Inside the package you will find:

Hand Repair (100ml) This is a non-greasy, powerful hand cream that provides instant protection and relief for your hands; enriched with natural soothing ingredients such as echinacea and vitamin E. I am obsessed with hand creams, especially during the winter months when my skin can get really dry, so this product is perfect and I love the chunky packaging and handy pump.

Orange Flower Hand Wash (30ml) This fragrant, foaming hand wash is particularly gentle leaving your hands soft and sweet smelling. It contains Panthenol and betaine, derived from sugar molasses, which moisturise the hands whilst extracts of orange essential oils and geranium fruitily fragrance the skin.

Superbalm (5g) This is known as Liz Earle's emergency skin salve, which rescues and soothes the skin. It can be used on any dry areas such as lips, elbows, knuckles and heels to gently soften and calm dry skin. It can also be used to condition nails and cuticles. It is made from pure plant oils, natural waxes and Shea butter and is a handy little addition to your handbag.

So, have you got all your Christmas shopping done?
Or are you like me and leaving it to the last minute as always!

liz earle sheer skin tint

I know there has been a lot of coverage of Liz Earle's new sheer skin tint, their first smart move away from skincare and into makeup, but I still wanted to stick my two cents in and comment of this product, which I was sent a few weeks ago to review. I must confess however that my opinion does not differ too much from all the other raves I've read but I hope you will find my post useful if you are considering purchasing this.
Liz Earle are known for always listening to the thoughts and desires of their customers, and acting on them, so when their faithful followers spoke up and requested a venture into the realms of cosmetics, Liz Earle set about to fulfil these wishes.

Words from Liz herself -
"Over the last 16 years our customers have been requesting make up and now we're ready to share what we've been working on. Approachable beauty is our priority, and as always our goal is for women to feel confident about how they look by helping them achieve natural-looking, beautiful skin, simply and without fuss."

Sheer Skin Tint is a really rich and creamy formulation like a foundation, but obviously is a lot more sheer on the skin like a tinted moisturiser. I was actually surprised at how thick the liquid was, and even though it doesn't conceal blemishes or spots completely, it does give a lovely colour to your skin and brilliantly evens out skin tone and covers redness. It is a lot thicker and more pigmented than any other tinted moisturiser I have toyed with. It blends effortlessly into the skin and leaves it looking dewy, fresh and natural. Sheer Skin Tint has SPF15 protection and is enriched with vitamin E and avocado, which works in harmony with the Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare range.
The product doesn't really smell of anything notable, it is just quite a neutral scent and similar to many other Liz Earle products.

(I didn't rub that all in btw!)
The Sheer Skin Tint currently comes in 3 shades; 01 Bare, (the lightest) 02 Beige and 03 Beach (the darkest). I was sent 02 Beige which is perfect for my nc25-30 skin. I applied the liquid with my fingers and I was really impressed with how smoothly it blended into the skin. You can use a small amount to get a light coverage or use a bit more to get a heavier finish. But however much you use, this will not act like a foundation and completely cover any problematic areas, as it is only a light base. But you can always use concealer over the skin tint to add any extra coverage you need. But what it does do is add a healthy glow to your skin and I felt that when I removed it, my skin was left feeling incredibly soft and smooth. That might just be me but it made me love this product even more.
I wouldn't feel confident wearing this product alone, every day to work, but for those days when I am just pottering about and don't particularly want a whole face of foundation, this would suit me wonderfully. It will also be coming with me on holiday as I think it will be the perfect product to wear in the evening as it is much lighter than foundation and lets your skin breathe; as well as having SPF 15 protection.

Liz Earle's Sheer Skin Tint will be available online from 15th September 2011 and will retail at £21.00 (40ml). It can be tricky deciding on the right shade for you so if you order your Skin Tint by mail, Liz Earle will send you a sample size of all three shades so you can check you have ordered the correct colour for you before opening your full sized product. Handy huh?
Is this a product you will be purchasing?
Are you a fan of your foundation or do you prefer a lighter layer?

Liz Earle's Brightening Treatment Mask

Another glorious offering from the extensive Liz Earle skincare range, and yet again, it doesn't fail to please me or my skin. The Brightening Treatment Mask, a fast-acting 'minute' mask, is ideal for whenever dull skin needs a quick fix and some rejuvenation. It is packed full of fancy, naturally active ingredients such as aloe vera and witch hazel, which help to cool and tone the skin. White Clay is also present, a super-fine powder which absorbs excess sebum on the skin and draws out embedded impurities.
This mask is perfect for those who don't have time to sit around with cucumbers on their eyes, slathered in a sludgy solution for half an hour. It acts quickly, invigorating your skin whenever it needs a boost of radiance. Simply apply to clean, dry skin and leave on for any time between 30 seconds to 2 minutes. The product comes with Liz Earle's infamous pure muslin cloth. Soak this in hand-hot water and then gently wipe your face to remove the product.

What I love about this product is that you can tailor its use totally to your needs. In the mornings, I am mad-dashing all over the show and cannot justify 2 minutes out of my tight timetable to let a face mask linger on my skin, however 30 seconds is completely acceptable! And I honestly do feel the effects from such a short time. It perks my skin up, leaves it zesty-fresh and completely cleansed. Due to the active ingredients, you will experience a wonderfully tingly sensation on your skin, which is completely expected. However, Liz Earle do advise this product may not be suitable for very sensitive skin.

I would say, I do prefer this product more as a quick step in my regime, rather than as an indulgent face mask, and I don't think it quite compares to the Deep Cleansing Mask I featured last year and still use on a weekly basis.

This Brightening Treatment Mask is available online and the 50ml Starter Kit (as featured) is £13.
Are you a fan of Liz Earle and is this something that appeals to you?

his and hers

Valentine's Day is just around the corner, so cue the mad dash for last minute cards and gifts as the day fast approaches. I am not over-awed with the whole occasion. Not that I am single and bitter, but more that I feel suffocated by the whole commercialism and do not believe we should feel compelled to celebrate love, on one specific day. But that's another story.

Despite this, I felt the need to share some lovely gifts from Liz Earle that could be the perfect little present for your other half this V day...

Give the gift of great skin!
The treat for Her kit includes: orange flower botanical body wash & nourishing botanical body cream. I have tried both these products and they are luxuriously rich and heavenly scent. The body wash in particular is gorgeous and sweetly-fragranced, like having a bouquet of flowers in your shower, but better, as this will last a lot longer!

The groomed and gorgeous kit for Him includes: after-shaving moisturiser & face and body wash. I will be passing these to the beau for his expert appraisal, say tuned for that.

Both kits are available now from Liz Earle for £11.75.
What do you think? Is this something you would treat your love to this Valentine's Day?

The cream of the crop

I have been meaning to get around to posting this review for a while now, but I have been somewhat distracted by the snow and all the connotations it brings with it. Failing light being one of them. Winter time blogging is quite a bane and an ever pressing challenge to pounce upon any glimmer of light to take your required photos.
So finally, I can bring you my review on these two Liz Earle products I have recently been using.

The 'hand repair' hand cream is a wonderfully conditioning and richly-scented cream that really does offer relief to dry, cracked hands. This product is suitable for all skin types and is laced with Echinacea, hops and natural vitamin E. I would like to consider myself somewhat of a hand cream connoisseur. I do suffer from dry skin on my hands, and also troublesome cuticles, so have developed a rather unsettling addiction to applying and reapplying hand cream at any given opportunity.
I would say this hand cream falls into my top 3, along with Soap & Glory Hand Food and The Body Shop's Hemp Hand Cream. The treatment is not at all greasy and sinks in within seconds, which is a necessity when busily typing at my desk. I have also noticed a marked improvement in the condition of my nails and cuticles, and I personally love the zesty, slightly menthol aroma of the hand cream.

The Body Cream is from Liz Earle's Superskin range, and sadly, I didn't love this product quite as much as I had hoped I would. Shea butter, organic rosehip oil and cranberry seed oil are but a few of the essences which make up this ultra-rich body cream, which promises to transform lacklustre skin into skin that is visibly smooth, plump and supple.
This cream is specifically dedicated to mature and/or very dry skin. Although I suffer from dry hands, the rest of me is rather well-conditioned, so I felt this cream was a little too heavy and rich for my liking. With such a dense concentration, it required some seriously committed massaging to allow the product to sink in completely. I ceased with the full body application, but I now specifically use this product for the conditioning of certain dry areas such as my elbows. Due to its concentration, you only need a small blob, so this product will definitely last a fair length of time.

I would love to hear your views if you have tried either of these products, or are tempted to give them a whirl. I hope my review has been of some help, and as always, you can peruse the Liz Earle website for these products and many more...

My mask of the moment

I must confess that face masks don't feature very highly or predominantly in my beauty regime.
I view them as an added extra, a Brucie bonus...a special treat for when time allows.
Previously, in a hope to conform to the stylised image of the girl with cucumbers on her eyes wallowing in a foamy bath with a green solution caked on her face, I use to splurge on those little 99p sachets from Boots.
Faling to transform my life, I hadn't contemplated using a face mask for many moons...

That was before this little beaut beckoned to me!

This Liz Earle Deep Cleansing Mask is really special.
It is a highly concentrated clay and botanical mask that sucks out all the impurities, excess oils and nastiness in your skin, leaving your skin feeling fresh, clear and purified. It also contains Manuka honey, organic aloe vera and the essential oil of rose-scented geranium, all making it sound rather lovely.
The smell is quite pungent yet completely indescribable. I can't express what the scent is reminiscent of, maybe slightly like damp moss and earthy wood fires, laced with a sweet, herbal-like undertone?!

The mask is rich and concentrated and Liz Earle do advise it isn't suited for sensitive skin, but it is specially formulated for oily, combination or problematic skin.
My skin is just quite normal really, with maybe a few seldom yet troublesome breakouts.

The mask is really easy to apply. Just take a generous dollop and smooth onto your face and neck area, avoiding eyes, lips and hairline, and leave for 5 - 10 minutes.
I was crazy and left mine on for a whole 20 minutes and my skin loved me for this rebellious streak!

Once on, the greeny-tinged mask will dry on your skin, making it feel tight, but not unpleasantly so.
WARNING: you will resemble the Incredible Hulk for the duration of this treatment.
I sat, twiddled my thumbs, did some sit ups and ate some toast, and attempted to distract myself any way possible from the niggling itch on the tip of my nose. And then voila, was time for removal. The starter kit, which is the one I am using, comes with two circular sponges which you can soak it water and then gently wipe away the mask. I personally preferred to splash it off with cool water over the basin.

What I loved about this product is the way it made me skin feel the moment after I had rinse it off. It felt really fresh and cleansed and deeply-purified. The moment I had washed off the mask, my skin didn't feel tight any longer, but toned and really smooth.
Another plus about this product is that you are able to use it as a facial mask as often as you require, or as a intense treatment on specific areas or blemishes. I may have to rethink my beauty regime, and reassess my precious free time, as I do believe there is a vacancy for this certain magical mask to join my beauty regime.

Price: £12.50 for the starter kit (including 75ml of the deep cleansing mask and 2 sponges)
Available online at Liz Earle.

Do you use face masks as part of your beautifying program?
Which are your faves and would you be tempted to try this?

Liz Earle Hair Care Launch

So last week, I was invited to skip along to a Liz Earle event, held at their flagship store in Chelsea, London.
I had never been to this store before so was looking forward to having a little nosey, and I can concur that it is a gorgeous store, decked with glazed wooden floorboards, marble top counters and shiny wash basins.

The event was in aid of the launch of Liz Earle’s new (and first) hair care range.
It was an intimate affair, with 10 or so fellow bloggers (and cacti) huddled around the show and tell area, smoothie in hand, listening to the impressive timeline of how these products finally made it through the rigorous testing and were eventually met with the team’s seal of approval...6 years later!

Liz Earle has listened to their customers and developed their carefully edited hair care range - one shampoo to suit all hair types, and three conditioners: dry/damaged, oily and normal. They are described as the "Cleanse & Polish for the hair"

The products are packed with naturally-derived ingredients and promise to be gentle on the most sensitive of scalps and are all colour-safe too. The hair care range boosts to be SLS and SLES free, which are those added chemicals which makes your shampoos and soaps "lather up", foam, and create bubbles. This is usually a rather satisfying and desirable result when using shampoos, but Liz Earle proves you still can still achieve this effect through natural botanical ingredients.

We were treated to a detailed overview of how these products have manifested over 6 years, from a mere seedling in Liz Earle's and the consumers' imagination, to the fully fledged range that will soon be available to the masses.

And then, just as I was merrily sniffing some Yangu seeds, we were graced with the presence of Liz Earle herself. It was rather splendid to meet the lady behind this magic, and I believe she is a great ambassador for this hair care range particularly, as her hair did look rather radiant!!
After her casual fleeting visit, we all had time to mingle, ask any questions, chat to the ladies and flirt with the products and the fluffy towels over at the basins.

Upon leaving, we were proffered with a goody bag containing the shampoo and our chosen conditioner. I went for the dry/damaged one as this suited my hair type most appropriately after all the colouring it has been battered with of late.
I have used the products for about 3 washes now and I can state that I am enjoying them greatly.  I really like the smell. It is quite earthy and mature, and is reminiscent of log fires in the winter and freshly vanished wood. They purposefully developed the scent to make the products unisex, and I do believe they have achieved that. It makes a pleasant change from many of the hair care ranges that intoxicate you with sickly floral and fruity aromas.
I did feel they made a really difference to the condition of my hair, especially the conditioner. I can pretty much take or leave any shampoo, but for me, it's all about the conditioner, due to the dry, frizzy, thick, unruly nature of my hair.
It felt like a real treat to my hair, and did leave it feeling nourished and smooth and smelling divine.

The shampoo and conditioners are priced at £7.50 each for 200ml.
They are not currently available but they will be launching online and at the Chelsea and Isle of Wight stores on 2nd September 2010, and then rolling out to John Lewis stores on 6th September 2010.

I'd like to say thank you to Andrea, Laura, Louise and the rest of the Liz Earle team for allowing me the chance to have a sneak peek at this new range, and I have no doubt it will be another huge success!
