Back to Mac

Bank holiday Monday has come and gone, and I decided to take a trip into London town, to have a mosey around, coo at some quaint cafes, drink coffee and indulge in some therapy of the retail kind.
I have religiously been saving up all my MAC empties, and hooray, I finally had amassed six empty containers!
{For those who may not be aware, MAC have a scheme to promote recycling - "Back to Mac", so when you have six empty containers, bottles, lipsticks....you can return them to a MAC store and exchange them for a lipstick or lipgloss of your choice.}
I seem to get through my Studio Fix Fluid foundation like it's going out of fashion, so I have returned several times to claim my free lippie.
This time around I plumped for a lipstick I have been swooning over for a while...

Please Me - (Matte)

Described as a muted-rosy-tinted pink, it really is a lovely colour on the lips. I adore matte lipsticks, so this consistency works perfectly for me! Despite it being matte, I do not find it drying at all...just gorgeous!

Whilst I was in the store and off-loading all my empties, I had to pick up my holy grail-my staple-used for months-never willing to change-foundation combination!

This is the foundation and powder combo I use everyday without fail and it has been this routine for many months now....what an adventurous soul I am! But once I have found a foundation regime that works for me, I am hesitate to change or explore other products.

MAC Studio Fix Fluid: NC25 & NC30 (depending how 'tanned' I am feeling!)
MAC Mineralised Skin Finish Natural: Medium Plus

Studio Fix Fluid provides a medium to high coverage, and can really create a flawless, build-able finish to the skin. I get on really well with this product and apply it with a foundation brush, usually my MAC 190 or the MAC 188 stippling brush. The mineralised skin finish natural is just sublime. It really is the most incredible powder I have ever used. It sets the foundation perfectly, layers onto the skin inoffensively and also works wonderfully alone to create a idyllic veil over the skin!
Much love!I would like to think one day I will branch out and try some other foundations and powders, but I think it will take a lot to tear me away from these babies!

Please let me know what your holy grail foundations and powders are, I'd love to get some ideas, if and when I feel ready to leave the warm, safe bosom of MAC!

I'm exactly the same when it comes to my foundation, i'm so reluctant to try anything else incase it doesn't work as well or it breaks me out.. Plus, I find this works so well for me that I wouldn't really have an excuse to change!

Loving 'Please Me' though, I picked up 'Pretty Please' recently and find it a little too sheer/sparkly for my liking.. This reminds me of a rosier 'Snob'.. Added to the list :)

Hope you're well sweety pie!! xx

I've been saving up my empties quite desperately but still need a couple before I can get my free lippie! It's great to be able to try something for free.

I've not tried a matte finish before, I think it's the only finish I've not tried thinking it would be too drying, I'm glad to see that's not the case.

My fave makeup combo is NARS Sheer Matte foundation and set with Rimmel Clarifying powder at the min, but I'm going through a phase of trying out other options so it might be different in a couple of weeks! xXx

Thats such a pretty colour! I really do like it :-)
I would love to be able to buy the MAC foundation, but I dont have a store near me so I cant swatch it. Do you know if theres anywhere online that shows matches for their foundations against other brands? (if that makes sense!) Xx

Milly said...

Hey lovelies
Thank you all so much for your contributions and darling comments, I love reading them all. Pleased to see many of you also opt for the MAC SFF and MSFN combo :)
@karen - erm, i dont really know to be honest. It is hard matching your foundation online, without the product in front of you. I suggest just googling, I reckon there will be a blog that has swatches. Or you could try temptalia.com :)

Hello!
I been meaning to try new foundation out, I was looking into MAC or Makeup Forever, but don't which to pick. I know I want full coverage, I look into MAC now. && I never use powder after putting on foundation, just put on bronzer, should I put on powder?

Gorgeous lip color! I can never remember how many containers you're supposed to bring in for the free lip color so I end up just letting them pile up. I'm probably overdue for a few!

I used to (and still do, really) swear by the Studio Fix foundation in NC20, but I got so I was going through it way too quickly for the price tag so I tried to find a drugstore brand that would do well enough. Nothing has ever worked as well as my lovely MAC, though!

I absolutely love that color pink, it's such a soft and muted tone; very romantic!
My holy grail foundation is MAC Studio Fix pressed powder foundation. It has really good coverage, especially with it being in a compact, and I like that it's a one stop solution!
