Cath Kidston nails

Cath Kidston is synonymous with ditzy florals, cutesy polka dots and nostalgic patterns, adorning many a cushion, tea towel and bedspread with its sweet prints. I think Cath Kidston designs are infectiously adorable and I have my fair share of Kidston-covered items in my possession. I was originally inspired to give this nail art a go after seeing Corrie's post where she shared her springtime nails with us, and then I found this post on Emily's blog and was finally convinced to give it a whirl. It may look a little challenging but I can assure you that in four simple steps, you too can have some fancy florals on your fingertips...

1. Firstly, chose your base colours. I used Barry M Blueberry Ice Cream and Bourjois 1 Seconde nail polish 06* but there are so many colour combinations you can use, just have a play about with different shades until you find a happy harmony.

2. On the accent nail, I chose to do polka dots by using Orly Prelude to a Kiss* blobbed on with a cocktail stick. For the other nails I took Bourjois 1 Seconde nail polish 06 and roughly dabbed it on from the brush to create the flowers.

3. Whilst the flowers are still a bit tacky, I took Orly Prelude to a Kiss and swirled it in with a cocktail stick to give the flowers a three-dimensional look.

4. Finally, I took Illamasqua Nomad polish* and blobbed it around the flowers to create the leaves. I also added some extra polka dots to fill in the spaces. Et voila!

Do you go ditzy over floral prints? Let me know if you have attempted a similar nail art; I'd love to see it :)

Very cute :) I love the colours you have used! I've had floral nails on my list of 'to do nail art' for so long but I've been slacking in the nail art department recently!
